American Inventor on ABC had a person (Jodi Pliszka) with alopecia
My husband and I like to watch "American Inventor" to see what kind of things people are coming out with. Some of the inventions crack us up and have us rolling in the floor with laughter, others are truly inspiring inventions.
I was so totally humbled when I saw my friend and fellow alopecian Jodi Plizka present her new invention.. Jodi did a GREAT job and her presence had tears streaming down my cheeks.
Seeing others with alopecia in the public does something deep inside of me. Maybe it is because it keeps reminding me that I am not alone ... you are not alone...we are not alone. Somehow we are each where we are supposed to be in this life ... the good.. the bad..... the hair... no hair....in sickness...in health...with all body parts or without.... we are EACH here for a divine reason Our divine reason becomes even clearer when we allow our deepest weakness to be used. Somehow there is strength in weakness. Somehow there is hope in what once appeared to be a hopeless situation.

When the announcer announced Jodi's name, I started jumping up and down on my sofa like a young child. I was cheering at the TOP of my voice for Jodi, for her boldness, for her tenacity, for baldly going where few have been. I knew she was coming out with a new invention, but was not sure what all the details were, and there she was on my TV set in my living room.
Jodi came on National Tv, boldly shared her alopecia as she removed her wig to share her invention. I can think of SOOOO many uses for the disposable absorption product she has invented .... not just alopecians with wigs, but football players, construction workers, military personnel wearing helmets, biker helmets, and anyone who wears a hat, wig, or cap who perspires and doesn't want the prespiration running down their face or neck!!!
I could NOT believe that she received 'NO" votes. I was so proud that the female judge kept speaking for Jodi's invention and one of the "No" voters changed his mind and voted yes. I was screaming at those two men (as if they could hear me!!). I guess neither of those "no" voters realized that there are 90million of us out there who will probably purchase a disposable product to keep our prespiration from running down our necks. The one little fella never changed his mind. But I was SO excited that one did. Now she can make it to the next round of the game.
Opening ourselves up like this takes a lot. I am so very grateful that more and more people are opening up to help each of us along our journey.
